  • Here's how you can constantly learn and stay relevant in critical thinking.

One thing I have found helpful to foster critical thinking is to embrace “gray” areas rather than looking for a “black and white” simplified solution. Recognizing that there are many potential strategies and accepting complexity gives you the opportunity to think critically while incorporating different perspectives. It fosters open mindedness and helps challenge cognitive biases.

  • Here's how you can balance pursuing continuing education in Service Operations while working full-time.

Balancing continuing education in service operations is important. Like most initiatives, it is a team effort from those around you. With the support of your family and colleagues, it becomes easier to dive in and take the first step. It’s important to remember and acknowledge that the sacrifices and benefits are for the people, communities, and companies we serve.

  • Here's how you can apply logical reasoning to enhance problem-solving in your career.

I frequently find that the root of a problem is an information gap. By closing the gap everyone typically has the same reasoning and solution. When faced with a complex problem start by examining how and why the facts and perspectives involved differ.

  • You’re struggling to communicate effectively in emails. How can you improve your writing skills?

I agree and also want to bring attention to word choice, email design, and the varying preferences that exist. First, words have connotation and you should select words that support the tone and reaction you’d like to set with the audience. Second, spacing, format, and bullets are specific design elements that can ensure a more effective message. Last, preferences with items such as greetings should be considered. Some prefer and expect a polite greeting while others are to the point. When you aren’t sure or have a broad audience, it is best to choose the option with less risk, which is typically to include a polite greeting. The key is to be aware and intentional with subtle but important parts of email communication.

  • How do you balance the need for standardization and innovation in your lean process improvement culture?

In my experience, there is a natural tendency to place low frequency exception scenarios out of scope when some are actually critical requirements for adoption. It’s important when standardizing and innovating processes to not only address the highest frequency defects but also the more subtle important opportunities. When deciding, exception scenarios should be measured for real world frequency and severity with input from those directly involved in the process. This will help identify requirements to avoid disruption and rework at a later phase. Creating an XY matrix or using another similar tool with the proper experts is always worth the time. You may even have to consider sentiment/emotion of exception scenarios when deciding scope.

  • What operations management concepts are essential for administrative managers in business management courses?

In my experience it’s always best to invest most of your time on identifying the root cause of the problem and ensure solutions are data driven. Implementing the wrong solution can be very costly and create rework.

  • Robert Ritchie 🚨 One week to go until the official start of the 2024 Hurricane Season! 🌪️Our leadership team recently gathered to conduct our annual CAT simulation meeting as we continue our preparation efforts for what’s expected to be an extremely active storm season.Just as we’re getting prepared, so should you. Now is the perfect time to contact your American Integrity insurance agent to make sure your policy is up-to-date, talk about deductibles and other out-of-pocket expenses, and ensure you have flood coverage (flood damage is NOT a covered peril under your standard home insurance policy). 🌀 #AmericanIntegrityInsurance #HurricaneSeason #StormSeason #HurricanePrep #StormReady 16
  • Joshua Cruce, CPCU, XCT, AIC This morning, many of us woke up and checked on our families, friends and loved ones impacted by Hurricane Milton. Many of us also woke up to an emergency rule issued by Jimmy Patronis regarding enhanced transparency for all claims professionals as we begin to serve Floridians in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. When I read the rule, I couldn’t help but understand the spirit of this ruling, which is to remind every claims professionals of our “why”. Why do we do this? Our “why” is service. To serve all who are impacted by this devastating event. A key component of service is trust. We must build trust with our customers, from FNOL to settlement, and every step in between. Trust is not something that is given. Trust is earned. Trust is built one step at a time. From first contact. To investigation. To settlement. We build trust through transparency in what we do. We build trust by taking accountability for our work. We build trust by guiding our policyholders through the claims process. And we build trust through empathy, care and compassion. As well all begin the recovery process, remember the “why” Be the silver lining. 29 2 Comments

This vibrant Mexican tradition, celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, is a time to honor loved ones who have passed and celebrate their lives with joy, remembrance, and respect.Recognizing and celebrating traditions like Día de los Muertos helps build a workplace culture that values the diverse backgrounds of our team members. When we create spaces that encourage everyone to share their heritage, we build a foundation of trust, understanding, and connection. • Joshua Cruce, CPCU, XCT, AIC Something we don’t talk a lot about in our industry is self-care.Claims management is hard. What they don’t tell you about service…is it takes much more energy to perform acts of service for others. It can be draining. It can be tiring. So if you’re in a service oriented field, you must learn how to refill your cup when it starts to empty. You must learn that serving yourself is just as important as serving others. When policyholders suffer a loss, they deserve the best version of ourselves. We can only give that best version if we first ensure our physical and mental health is prioritized. You can’t help somebody through a traumatic event if you just have nothing left to give. This holiday season, make sure you take time.Forget you have a job, and just give yourself some love. 39 10 Comments

  • Jim Greaves This is terrible reminder of how disruptive severe weather can be to an organization. Having the correct policies and procedures in place is essential to the safety and well being of your employees and business. Emergency action plans (EAP) is not just a document that should be sitting on a shelve and never evaluated or practiced. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), almost40 percentof small businesses never reopen their doors after a disaster. After the weather event is done the next step is getting your organization back up and running. This is where having a business continuity plan is essential to the continued success of the organization. #riskmanagement #HUB 11
